Hey all,
As some of you know I have been trying to fill spots and have only had two kids coming so far on drop in basis (one gives me her schedule on fri or sun for the week before so I always know when I will have her child, but can vary from one day to a full week with most weeks being 2-3 days. The other never tells me anything in advance and when they do, they normally don't show or change the days and that one was supposed to be full time to start but the parents kept the child as drop in, I think so they could have flexibility all week but only bring him the days they want to depending on when dad is home since he works from home, etc and have been somewhat undependable, flaky and not following policies and being late, not respectful in letting me know when they will need me and leaving me wondering until 10-11 am ea day if I havent heard from them that I wont have their child that day)
Okay, all that being said....I am starting a full timer in a week, have another that will probably be paying to hold a spot for two months and be full time starting in jan, another that wants care in dec and another who wants care starting in jan. So two for sure, and two more possible full timers...things are finally starting to look up enrollment wise! I need to move to either they pay for a full time spot (for full week availability) or a pt spot (2 days or less, which will require them to choose specific days and stick to those only) or they won't have a spot, in other words I need to change to only ft or pt spots and not doing drop-in anymore because really they are not drop-ins as they are hear regularly every week and use me primarily for their child care so this is not fair to me nor can I rely on it income wise. I just don't know exactly how to word this and want to send home a letter with them as well as verbally let them know that I will be offering only pt or ft spots to where it sounds good and if there is anything else you think I need to include or say please let me know!
I appreciate any suggestions and will be working on the letter in the next couple days. I am also going to do what I can to get my handbook finalized as I work on it, then stop, work on it, because I haven't really had much business or interest lately I am not sure what I should include because I don't want to scare off potential parents. I must get it done though so that any potential parents know my policies and if they don't like them...well..one thing I have learned from you all, is that it is probably not a good fit or will be a family that will cause more problems than it's worth and I will find the right ones that fit my program!
Thanks so much all!
