How does state pay work?

We are looking to get licensed and most people in this town rely on the state assistance for payment. Do you only get paid once a month?

When I was in Kansas it was once a month. And they paid based on attendance (Ohio pays on attendance also), which if that is the case in your state it means that if the kids are not there, you don't get paid so your weekly rate can be very low if you have a high absence child. Also, the state has a max hourly rate, but if you charge your other families less than that rate, they will pay you what you charge other families. You can make some calls or look around online and find out the specifics in your state.
