  • Stomach Bug

My son who is 15months old came down with the stomach bug Monday night around midnight he was ill untill about 7am Tuesday morning so I had to close for the day to disinfect and care for my own little one. I am just curious how long the stomach bug usually is contagious for. In my policy and Ontario regs. One has to be symptom free for 24hrs. None of my DCK's have gotten it...but I am feeling so very queasy right now I am afraid.
Also what is the best way to disinfect.
    Thanks for your advice.

24 hours symptom free is the usual rule. However, I tend to lean more towards 24 hours "well" with a stomach bug. He may not be throwing up, but he is likely still shedding the virus for 24 hours still. To disinfect, bleach/water mixture kills most stomach bugs. I dont know about the other disinfecting products, but I know things like lysol anf hand sanitizer doesnt kill the germs from a stomach virus. Soap and water handwashing for 20-30 seconds and bleach/water for surfaces.
    Hope it misses ya!
