DBA Question in CA Tom?

If my research is correct I need to fill out a ficticious business name (DBA) for my childcare business. Should I fill it out as a business owned by both myself and my husband? What are the advantages/disadvantages for doing both?

I have Tom's book on legal issues...but haven't read it just yet. I finished the contract/policy one and want to start writing...but then I want to make sure I have my name when I write it...and to do that I need to get it approved...so I need to file a DBA...and now I wonder if it's better to be just my business or both hubby and I.

Business Name

You don't have to use a business name. However, if you do most states (such as CA) require you to register your business name. Register it in your name only (you are the owner). There's no advantage to listing your husband's name on it with you.
