  • Termed Because Of Political Views?

I guess it isn't really a term since it's a drop in kid who is here once a month usually...but I found this interesting and wanted to see what others thought.

This kid stays til roughly 6pm on the day he comes, so mom shows up, I was in the kitchen working on dinner, my husband was in the recliner watching Fox News, dcb was in the highchair in the kitchen playing with legos since he hates the pnp when it isn't nap time.

Anyhoo, he gets picked up no big deal, well this morning I get an email from dcm saying "I tried to justify the blatant ignorance but I just can not so we will no longer be bringing *** to your home for our dr appts. There is just no way I can trust the opinions and judgements of a person who watches Fox News and believes the trash they put out and call news. If I would have known you were one of those conservatives, I would have never brought my child to you, I feel duped."

Ok. WTF is that?! I literally laughed through it because 1. this person up until today seemed NORMAL to me! and 2. she was in my house for a total of 2 minutes, who's to say we watch that all the time, it could have been an interesting segament, heck we could have been making FUN of it for all she knew!

I just find it ridiculous to judge a person entirely based on their possible political beliefs. I mean really, it isn't he politicians who hate each other because of political differences, it's the regular people! George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton are friggin besties and they couldn't have greater political differences, yet this lady has beef with the news channel I prefer?!

It's craziness...I want to write something back sooooo badly, but I"m not sure what!

It is kinda funny. I'd be upset you had fox news on with my kid there, too. And I'm being honest, but only because we are a no tv family- especially fox, bleh!, anyways,....If anything, I'd have brought it up to you but not like that! ha! The fact she termed because of it? She must have been nitpicking for reasons to leave anyways.

Wowza! All I can do is laugh. Seriously they pulled their child because you had Fox News on? Seriously, I would be sending Fox an email and share this with them LOL

I am not a FoxNews viewer but I'll be darned if a daycare parent is going to tell me what I can and can't watch in my own home. (not counting obvious certain things...R rated movies, illegal stuff, Jerry Springer etc)
Plus, if the kid is young enough to be in a highchair or PNP, I doubt he gets what is being said on TV.

As a flaming liberal I understand her revulsion to FOX and basically agree with the parent .....to be honest I don't believe that any news is appropriate for the ears and eyes of lil ones. It seems that a conversation about news of any kind would have been a better choice on her part than this "term". Good riddance to an over reacting parent. Good Luck.

he's 19 months old, and i keep his past my business hours as a favor, so when my husband gets home, i'm not going to tell him "sorry, you cant sit in your chair and watch tv because jr is still here" don't think so!

Obviously I wouldn't be watching anything BAD but it was the NEWS!

My first thought ~ don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.

Honestly, if that's the only reason she gave, she was simply looking for a reason leave.

:::::: I'm falling off of my chair right now! Do you think they call each other that? ::::

Anywhoo...I'm not suggesting at all that you are at fault here (because you're not, that lady is a psycho), but I learned long ago to keep religious and political views from parents as much as possible.

When I was doing some student teaching in a 2nd grade classroom, we were on a field trip and one of the moms who was along was talking to me. She outright asked who I voted for (this was during the Bush/Kerry election). I was stupid and told her! I didn't think it mattered! Now, I don't want to be chastised here, or start a political discussion, because my decision to vote for Bush in the re-election was a naive one and I admit that. So after I told her, the mom just started going off on me! She was calm about it, so as not to scare the kids I imagine, but she was quoting Michael Moore and telling me statistics and saying how awful I am. How I've ruined the country.

So for the rest of the day, I was so concerned that she was going to talk to my cooperating teacher about what an awful person I am, but thankfully she never said anything. I told myself that day that I would never talk about that kind of stuff again to another parent/teacher/boss again. And I've carried that into my daycare.

So now that I've told my story.....it's not like you were watching some propaganda film about the KKK or something like that! You were watching the news! Who cares! If she is going to take the news program you watch as a sign that you are "one of those conservatives" then good riddance!

People like that get me on my soap box so much. They preach open-mindedness but then condemn people based on such trivial things! Grrr...I don't know if you should text her back or not, because she sounds crazy to me. Her loss, not yours!

see, i'm not a flaming anything, i like bill o'reilly, I like anderson cooper, I hate glenn beck, i hated keith olbermann, so I'm all over the place...BUT i don't care if my dcp's are libs, conservatives, democrats, republicans, tea party patriots, socialists, i don't CARE...that part of them has nothing to do with me, even if i was a flaming conservative how in the world would that affect how I change a diaper, serve a meal, play peekaboo, etc...
