I saw the post on outdoor cameras, I'm looking for an indoor camera. I just want something "cheap" to sit on a shelf that is motion activated and alerts my phone. I'm in the basement with the kids and I want to know if there is someone upstairs; my husband, kids, a stranger, etc. The ones I've looked at on Amazon have questions about giving a lot of access to your smart phone to load the app. Does anyone have something like what I'm looking for without giving up your privacy?

We have the Arlo Cameras from Costco. They are also sold at Target. They are very simple and I use them for the same reason, to know when someone arrives when we are out back. They are indoor or outdoor. The app is very easy and it alerts me on my phone.

Ring.com makes a simple system. You can by them at Home Depot or online. There is also a flood light that you can use that replaces your outdoor light that has a camera and microphone that you can view on your smart phone.

I have a Night Owl multiple camera security system both at home and at daycare.
At daycare I have 16 cameras. Some inside, some outside. All record and all are viewable via my smart phone when I am away but otherwise just display on a 32" monitor from inside. I can see all of the rooms in my daycare house as well as all around the outside.
At home we have the same set up but not as many cameras inside the house. We also have a Ring security light that we use but it's not as simple to set up as they say it is....of course, it's more than likely a person issue as we had to buy a wi-fi extended and spend an enormous amount of time figuring it all out...but it is nice and is something I would definitely recommend to others for outdoor use.
We started with a big system but only a few cameras and then added more as we could afford them. We have wireless cameras inside and wired cameras outside.
The entire system was literally plug and play.
SUPER easy.
