  • A Text From DCM And My Response...

So I am prefacing this by telling you that I have trouble asserting myself (using my backbone as you all refer to it) in my life and in my business. It is something that I have been working on in all areas.

DCM texts me "Can we drop off DCB at 7am tomorrow?"

I open at 7 and do not do contracted hours so I said. "Ok."

She texts back "Is it ok if we drop him off in his jammies with a change of clothes ?"

While this is not explicitly outlawed in my handbook, it is not a good idea. DCB is 2.5 and potty training. I do require them to be in easy off, easy on clothes for pottying and footy-jammies certainly don't qualify. Furthermore, DCM just discussed with me YESTERDAY how difficult it is to get DCB to get dressed in the morning, how he doesn't mind them, etc.

Because she said "" I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt that she might be kidding and I texted back, "Haha!"

She responded with, "I'm a little serious, but if you say no I am kidding."

I responded, "Oh. I just don't think that will set him up for success with the potty. Also, we don't want to start a bad precedent."

Do you think my response was ok? I often feel as though this mom is trying to bully me and I try to keep it focused on DCB and not feed into it.

    nicely done!

I love her response about kidding only if you say no. ::

I don't think she was trying to bully you necessarily but I do think she didn't think that those little things make such a big difference and you politely taught her that they do.

    Again, nicely done! happyface

I like silly banter when dealing with things with parents. It makes it so much easier to say no and put your foot down. I think you did a great job.

I had a dcm ask me if I could let her child drink juice do to constipation issues. Which we are 100% NO JUICE, I said of course he can, be sure to have the phone close so when he explodes you can come clean him too.

she said, um never mind jk....

        great job...
