  • Pricing

I have recently become a licensed in home provider. I am so confused about pricing. Do you have prices for different families, as their hours will differ? I was going to set up a price for part time up to 25 hours, and full time for 25 hrs.+, then before and after school price. Is that how it's normally done, or a per hour price?

The way you were thinking of doing it is basically how I do it. I have:

    Full-time--$120/week
    Part-time (more than 4 hrs/day)--$30/day
    Part-time (fewer than 4 hrs/day)--$20/day

If I had school agers I would charge $10/day for before/after care (to be competitive with the area latchkey program) and then $30 for any school vacation days.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

      I am similar as well.

Full time (30 or more hours) $140 wk
Part time (6 or more daily) $30 day
Part time (6 or less daily) $20 day
Before/After school - $75 wk (plus $30 for days off $20 half days but never more than $140 wk)

Thank you for your replies. May I ask, what category do you put a half-day kindergartner in? Would it be part time or after school if it would be around 4.5 hours per day? I am also getting calls that they only need certain hours, or only before school, or only after school. I'm having a hard time setting a pricing schedule that would be fair for all.

          I am different.

I charge one price no matter what age and no matter how many hrs. It works to my benefit. I charge:

$35 a day (175/wk) with a 2 day minimum, doesnt matter if its 4 hrs or 10 hrs a day.

Before & after school is $50/week weather its 3 days or 5.

Drop in care is $20 for up to 3 hrs, $5 an hr for any hr over that

And I now offer date nights from 6-11 for $25

Weekend, nights, overnights, and overtime is $10 an hr.

          No sibling discounts

I would put a half day kindergartener in the part-time half day schedule, so $20/day. Presumably you'd be feeding them lunch (or even breakfast if it's an afternoon kindy) and doing more activities than a regular after schooler, not to mention having to meet the bus at "off" times, which could be more difficult.
