Another thread got me thinking...so if you are a informal care giver, and are over your limit with children, & if someone turns you in, what happens??

Are you asking if you are an unlicensed caregiver?
We got turned in and DHS showed up on our doorstep. I was in the process of getting my license so I only had to shut down for 2 months but it could have been much longer!
Also, we didn't have more kids than if we were licensed either...just no license.

The NY regs should have info on that for you.
In Ca. you are charged a civil penalty of $200 per day if you are found to be in violation of licensing requirements, including not submitting and recieving approval to operate a child care home.

Here, you do not need to have a license if you care for only 2 kids, so that is not an issue. I just wondered, what would happen if you had 3 or more. I don't, LOL but I was just curious. I know each state has it's own laws, and unfortunetly, there is not much info out there on the web about informal care givers.
Emosks: You mean you have to have a license there no matter what??
