"You're not coming to my house".

I think it's preprogrammed into all children, and set to go off at age three.

It's all they really have control over and the only consequence they can use when they're mad at somebody.

I especially LOVE the birthday one...it is usually said when the child's birthday is no where near the immediate future.

So...you're hidden somewhere in my house today???

My response to this is often "that's right...I don't want you to play together for the rest of the day and definitely DO NOT HAVE FUN TOGETHER". They'll resume playing within 15 seconds of my "demands" with a new agenda!

OMG age 3-5 I think this is a daily must say line.....

I never get involved with those lines and just let them hash it out...

The three year old I watch always says, " I won't give you a present." LOL really...the only present she has ever brought was a marker cap and she gave it to me not to any of the kids. ::::::

A former dcg would tell me "I not your friend anymore" every time I disciplined or corrected her. Head Start has books called Not Your Friend and You Can't Come to My Birthday Party about threes and fours behavior. Pretty good reads.
                        I see little people.

I just tell them that that's okay because I don't want to be friends with someone who doesn't play nicely - or whatever the child just did wrong - They don't know how to react when I don't care that they announced that I'm not their friend now!
