  • Silly Putty Or Goop Recipe?

Michael, I'm sorry, I tried to search it!!! :: I think that for people like me, we should start a "homemade" toy thread.

I know I recently saw a recipe for either goop or silly putty. Anyone remember where?

    Thanks!

here's one i use for flubber...not the same as silly putty, but its pretty awesome!

There are other recipes for Flubber here, but this is the one I always use. From the Children's Museum of Houston. Great to do with the kids. Educatio

"Goop" and "silly putty" are two different substances to me.

Goop is equal parts cornstarch and water (and a few drops of food coloring if desired). This is solid in the sensory table or container but "melts" into a liquid if you try and pick it up.

Silly putty is equal parts Elmer's glue (regular, not school glue) and liquid starch (can add color as well). You knead it together adding a touch more starch if too sticky and a touch more glue if too wet and stringy. This is a fantastic stretchy material.

I use equal parts white glue, and liquid starch. I occasionally add Borax to it to make it a better consistency.

Then, I give them old markers to color it. (the markers will be completely ruined after this, so they should be crummy markers in the first place)

        Ours has lasted six years!

Could it be one of these? https://www.daycare.com/forum/tags.php?tag=homemade

Thanks, Michael. Only the Cloud Dough thread had any relevance. It was more recent-ish, though. I want to say it was for Christmas gifts or something. I remember seeing it thinking that I needed to come back to it later to copy all of the recipes. The next day I was distracted by all the new posts and forgot what it was called. I think we talk to much!!!

We do make the goop, but we call it gloop.

The liquid starch - can I make my own and use it?

I went to youtube and this was the first video that came up. It's cute because she has 6 kids and a baby in a high chair for the 3 minutes showing how to make it and use it. Maybe it's a daycare or a friend's party, LOL.
