  • Paying Own Children And Friends For Shoveling

Do we write it off? If so, is it T/S%?

Along with this question, I do this, and pay them in cash. They are junior high age. How do i make the deduction for this? I am only concerned with the days that they do it early so that my dc parents can get in.

      shovel snow

You can deduct the cost of snow removal. In general, this would be a time-space % deduction. You could argue that you need the snow removed early in the morning, but you could also say that your family is also getting the benefit of the snow removal. To deduct 100% of the cost would be an assertive position, using the t/s% would be a conservative position.
If you pay in cash, write out a record of the payment, who the payment was to, and the date.
