Claiming Property Tax

I moved to the new home for 2011 -2012 property tax I paid first payment in December and 2nd I will be paying April 2012. Can I claim in 2011 tax both payment or only first payment? So confused.

Property tax

You can deduct expenses in the year you paid them. So, deduct the Dec property tax in 2011, and the April 2012 tax in 2012.
